LIVING
AND WORKING IN ITALY
TERMS AND
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employer
obtains the necessary work permit
Offer of
employment serves as a contract of agreement
Valid visa
and work permit are required to obtain Permesso de Soggiorno
The regular
working hours for live-in workers must not exceed 10 consecutive working hours
daily
Weekly
schedule must not exceed a maximum of 55 working hours.
For live-out
workers, maximum of 8 hrs/day and shall not exceed 48
hrs/week
Working at
night as assistants to elderly, children, the ill, and invalids is allowed
Guaranteed
wages (depends on the negotiation between the employer and employee but should
not be lower than the minimum standard)
6 working
days per week (The worker has the right to 25 working days off per year)
Worker has
the right to receive the equivalent of 1- month’s de facto pay (monthly wages +
conventional sum for room and board) during the Christmas holidays.
Employers
provide medical benefits
In the event
that the worker marries, he/she has the right to 15 days paid leave.
