Mia started her career in native Indonesia in 1994, where at the age of 14, she won the deciding match for Indonesia's Uber Cup team over Zhang Ning. She took home Silver for Indonesia at the 1996 Olympics and won 7 career titles prior to her departure from Indonesia in 1998. Moving to the Netherlands (where husband is a native), she continued her winning ways and began playing doubles as well. Mia's most recent victories have been in the 2005 Yonex Japan Open and the 2004 European Championships where she took home both the singles and doubles crowns. Mia once again took home the Silver at the 2004 Olympics, this time for the Netherlands, and is the only player to have won two Olympic medals for two different countries! She will likely be featured in ladies' singles match against Zhang Ning whom she defeated in her first major match in 1994 Uber Cup Final…fasten your seatbelts, this rivalry is alive and kicking!
