PROFILE:

Taufik has been on the badminton scene since 1997 and has won more that 20 titles in his career. The Olympic Gold Medal in 2004 would certainly be his crowning achievement. He has won 3 events over the past 12 months and has lost only 7 matches across that span as well. Taufik will be the only Indonesian representative for Asia and is a crowd favorite in Manila! Although he has many fans in the Philippines, Taufik has not had much success here. In fact, he lost to Lin Dan in 2001 in the 2nd round at the JVC Asian Badminton Championships (when Dan was still a junior). He is hungry to win in the Philippines and bring in another team title of which he has 2 already (Thomas Cups in 1998/2000).
