:Rules
and Regulations for the MVP Cup
The
following rules will apply for the selection of teams
and competition regulations for the MVP Cup event in
2006.
• Players and team captain will be selected by
each continental confederation (e.g. the ABC and EBU)
• A minimum of 4 countries must be represented
from each continent to avoid all players coming from
the strongest nations (e.g. Denmark in Europe; China
in Asia)
• No more than 4 players can come from 1 country
• A maximum of 10 players can be selected per
team
• The breakdown is as follows:
Men’s Singles – 2 players; Women’
Singles – 2 players; Men’s Doubles –
2 players; Women’ Doubles – 2 players; Mixed
Doubles – 2 players
• A total of nine matches will be played and the
winner must win the majority of points to win the event
• Points for each match will be appointed as follows:
1st competition day (3 matches) = 1 point per match;
second competition day (3 matches) = 2 points; 3rd competition
day (3 matches) = 3 poionts; a total of 18 points over
9 matches are available; 10 points for any team automatically
wins the MVP Cup

A
total of USD 100,000 in prize money will be on offer.
The winning team will receive USD 60,000 and the second
place team will win USD 40,000. Each team will consist
of 10 maximum players, however, a team can consist of
fewer than 10 players if it chooses.
