CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - A plebe at the Philippine National Police Academy
(PNPA) died in hospital in Silang, Cavite on Friday night after
suffering from hypertension, police said on Sunday.
Superintendent Mario Marasigan, Silang police chief, identified the plebe as Cadet Fourth Class Jeoffrey Corto of Barangay (village) Maraouy, Lipa City, Batangas.
Marasigan said they have ruled out foul play in the death of Corto.
Marasigan said around 10:30 p.m. Friday, the cadet was rushed by PNPA
staff to the hospital of the Adventist University of the Philippines after he complained difficulty in breathing.
Marasigan said Corto had already resigned as a police trainee and was
just waiting for the PNPA to issue his release order when he died.
'He was actually resting at that time. He already quit the training and resigned as PNPA cadet,' Marasigan said.
