“The youth is the fair hope of the Fatherland,” so wrote our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal more than 100 years ago. A shining example of young achiever, Dr. Rizal was a surgeon, painter, writer, linguist, scholar and nationalist who manifested his best in service of the country.

It was in this light that the annual search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines was founded - to recognize students who can be held as role models for others; students who exemplify academic excellence, exemplary leadership, good moral values, and determination to serve.

As it was in Rizal’s time, so it is for now and the future - we need to recognize and hold up our outstanding youth for emulation, as role models for their peers and fellow youth, and as sources of inspiration to their elders.

TOSP is just the beginning of the journey through learning, leading and serving for life.
